Aggregate CPU speed: Note that the individual CPUs benchmark between 5-33% faster than the "Equivalent" Xeon CPU indicated in the table below. Combining CPUs into a single VCN Node enables multiply threaded (concurrent) applications to gain speed and do more work in unit time.  Combining Nodes into a VSX Complex, allows scheduling and concurrency management software to give your IT department the ability to greatly exceed the capacity of the typical mainframe or server network, by an order of from 500X (five hundred times) to 25000X (twenty five thousand times) performance. The below VIPER models are based on the Opteron 865. With our Autonomous Crossbar Switch installed, applications can signal each other under CPU Control to accelerate Database Applications (the internal architecture of the Opteron is naturally suited for this application, since it, too, uses an internal Crossbar switch to arbitrate internal cached data sharing). 

The VIPER  SuperComputer Node (VCN) alone, for properly designed parallel applications at the ACSA, achieved parallel throughput at a speed of up to 38.4 Gigahertz aggregate. When all 128 Nodes are in use at ACSA's prestigious "ACSALab" the VIPER is able to attain 4 Terahertz and higher aggregate application performance. ACSA benchmarks indicated approximately 1000x the throughput of a Pentium D 4.0-GHz CPU.  Such is excellent for intensely computational research and data processing applications. ACSA is using the supercomputer to engage in drafting three dimensional Galaxy maps, and to model and calculate the generation impact of environmental, substance abuse and smoking, and agricultural toxicity and food processing's effects on the genome replication and repair rate of the entire Human Race, with it's Viper™ for special research partners.

The VIPER  VSX  SuperComputer Node, when equipped with eight Opteron 890 CPUs, has comparable performance  that 10 years ago would have been considered as fast as or even faster than the IBM Supercomputer known as "Deep Blue".  IBM's "Deep Blue" Supercomputer occupied several 19" racks, consumed many kilowatts of power, and took up the better part of a room. Amazingly, the CompAmerica Viper supercomputer starts at only $29,999, occupies only 16.7" (W) x 26.8" (D) x 8.7" (H) and consumes as little as 900 Watts of power!

  VIPER  VSX  Complex Features

 Hierarchical versus Linear Connectionist Architecture

  The Viper
 VSX  Complex supports two different ways for its internal Nodes to be arranged HA (Hierarchical) and LCA (Lineal Connectionist Architecture).  In all cases, the switches in use for interconnect have automatic addressability, full isolation of transactions, full fault tolerance, and redundancy.

  HA

  Hierarchical Architecture  (HA ) uses a top up expansion in powers of four Nodes, in a single SuperNode, four groups of SuperNodes in a HyperNode, and four HyperNodes in a MasterNode and four MasterNodes in a VSX Complex.    A Hierarchical arranged Viper  VSX  Complex allows up to 256 of the above VCN Nodes (which can be rack mounted or pedestal mounted) to interconnect through our SCALABLE LINK ACCELERATOR, a 10GB/Second twin optical interface, that allows AX6 based VCNs to expand to include each others' CPUs and RAM into a unified Parallel Supercomputer architecture.  N-Dimensionality is implemented using a special VSX Optical switch, that allows groups of four switches to cross connect with each other by a VSX 100GB/Second GEO-D connector, each of which switch can connect to up to 16 VCN Nodes, arranged in groups of four.  Each group of four switches' 100GB/Second GEO-D connector allows each group of four switches to be interconnected to up to three directly connected partners.  Each VCN Node joins its partners up and down in this hierarchy in a "tightly coupled triage" assembly.  Process distribution and task distribution are automatically arranged for by the AX6 operating systems in each of the Nodes.

  HA allows a predictable layout of tasks and is best suited for spherically designed applications, which constantly share data from a central database core to outer service units.  Typical applications include Security Management and Monitoring, Access Control, Flight Control of preprogrammed automatons, AI Databases, Huge Web eCommerce Applications, Banking and Finance.

  LCA  

  Lineal Connectionist Architecture
LCA ) allows the Nodes in a VSX  Complex to be arranged in a variety of matrixes or subgroups or in a continuous line of processors.  In this case, all of the Nodes in a single VSX  would either be arranged along a series of VSX Optical Switches, or groups of such interconnected by GEO-D connector based VSX  100GB/second switch.

   LCA is user customizable, and allows a building block approach to configuration.  This allows the topography of the VSX  Complex to be arranged as a convenience to its application.  A special building block is available to control the configuration of the switches under program control, so as to rearrange the array of Nodes within a VSX into a "scheduled configuration" that follows the applications running in the systems.  This "dynamic reconfiguration" of Nodes is only possible in the LCA  form of VSX  configuration.


Software Development and Port Partnerships

   CompAmerica is currently financing Software Development and Application Port Partnerships to run on its AX6 vBSD operating systems.  While a large supply of office, web, and database applications already exist for ORACLE, and other commercial environmenrts, CompAmerica has made arrangements for commercial partners to obtain low cost financing to make it next to cost free to easily port additional application packages to the Viper VSX Supercomputer, or to develop new ones.  For additional information, please call your VIPER representative at 908-931-1200.
